Back to the Sixties

The Ref and I trekked to Columbia, SC this evening to attend a performance of RAIN – the Beatles Experience.  It was fantastic!  The Beatles were THE GROUP during my junior high and high school days.  I could remember an experience related to every song the band performed tonight.  From slow dancing to This Boy in the basement of the Presbyterian Church on Friday nights at the Youth Center in the seventh grade to doing Advanced Chemistry Lab to the sounds of Abbey Road in my senior year.

The four members of RAIN look so much like John, Paul, George, and Ringo and had great costumes and wigs/mustaches to change their look as they moved through the Beatles era.  All of the music was live and very well done.  They also have two wide screens with scenes of the 60s and the real Beatles and great graphic and light effects.

For an encore they did Imagine – and I cried through it – and then Hey Jude – and we all sang along.

If the show comes to a venue near you – be sure to go!

  1. How fun!! Many many years ago, I saw a performance of “beatlemania.” It was very good, too.

  2. Hey, Carla – glad to see you back from your trip – isn’t Sedona just grand? I haven’t been there since the seventies – need to go back and spend some time. Sounds like you had a wonderful trip and anniversary.
