And now back to winter….

When Jolene was here for the New Year’s weekend this is another project we worked on.  We have a series of patterns in this size and we are trying to complete all of them.  They are easy to do and we don’t do any fancy quilting – in fact we use the blanket stitching around the applique as the bulk of our quilting.  Mine is on the left.  Binding has been sewn to the front but still needs to be handstitched to the back.  We even did the embroidery stitching of the words and the stars on our machines – using the “reinforced” stitch.

We are back to winter in SC – temps to drop very low over the next few days.  On the bright side – it is BRIGHT – sunny and clear.

My longarm – fondly known as Prince Charming – is back to behaving.  I’ve quickly quilted two Quilts of Valor that have been hanging around waiting for their turn for too long.  Now that I’m sure the Prince is on good behavior I’ve got a wonderful Stars in My Garden applique quilt from a customer that I need to get going on.  That will be very springlike to look at during these frosty days.

The TTT gang (Tuesday Thimbles and Threads) was here yesterday and as usual we had a wonderful day.  We discussed our second book of the year, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society.  Everyone made good progress on whatever project they had brought along.  The best part is just sharing in the laughter, getting advice and sympathy about our concerns, and making plans for future fun.  They are a remarkable group of women and I am so blessed to have them in my life.

I am going to catch up with you and Jolene one day and have one of those wallhangings for each season. I have a great spot in the foyer where they fit nicely. TTT was wonderful. I love the book discussions. I always want to talk about the books I have read and now I can do it. Thanks, Stay warm—-I’m not planning to leave the house tomorrow, Sheila
